Friends of the Library

Find the Friends on Facebook!

February 2016

Friends of the LibraryThe Friends typically meet monthly. The next meeting is Wednesday, February 17 at 6:30 PM, in the library’s junior room. New faces are always welcome. We have more ideas than energy and can always use helping hands and hearts!

Email the Friends at FOL.Franklin {at} gmail {dot} com, or check us out on Facebook.

Cocktails and Canvas

tefft penguinsWe are hosting a popular painting and cocktails party with local artist Gail Tefft on Thursday, February 4, from 6:00 to 8:30 PM. The cost is $30.00 per person or $25.00 for members of the Friends. Cost includes all painting supplies and light refreshments. A portion of the proceeds benefits your library.

Cocktails & Canvas nights are relaxing, fun evenings where you can enjoy time with friends and learn something new. The event is BYOB (alcoholic or not). Local artist Gail Tefft will provide step by step instructions to help you create your own painting to take home. And, best of all, no artistic experience is required!

There is limited seating and registration is required.

Bunco Tournament Fundraiser

Support your library and have some fun at the The Friends of the Library’s Bunco Tournament fundraiser. Bunco is an easy, fast paced dice game requiring no previous skill. Can you roll dice? Then you can play Bunco! You can learn to play in a few minutes. The tournament is on Friday, February 19 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the library.

The donation is $15 per person, and includes lunch. Seating is limited, so please register by Wednesday, February 17.

Who are the Friends of the Library?

The Friends of the Library is a nonprofit volunteer organization dedicated to supporting the Franklin Public Library. We are community members who work to promote and enhance the library and what it has to offer. The Friends help by volunteering at the library, helping to organize and staff the semi annual book sales, and host events to raise funds for services and resources. Recent fundraisers have included the annual Quiltathon, Cocktails and Canvas painting classes, and the 50/50 raffles. We have donated to many programs and resources around the library, including the children’s Robotics program and towards the replacement of the library’s heating system.

As a member of the Friends, you are invited to a special, Friends only Preview Sale the night before our semi annual Books and More Sales open to the public. Membership is also a great way to share your ideas with the library. Friends also support the library with help at various fundraisers and events. Please consider joining today!
