Special Event: Love YOUR Library! Continue your Franklin on Ice fun with a stop to YOUR library on Saturday, Feb 8 from 11-4 pm. This community event has a line up of fun and free activities for all ages.

  • Artwork on display from students from Central, Sandycreek and Valley Grove Elementary.
  • Craft Station from 11-2 pm with Jackie Anderson
  • Balloon Artist 11-1 pm with InKrEdible IKE
  • Winter Cookie decorating bar 2:30-4 pm
  • HOLeY Jeans performance beginning at 2 pm
  • Raffle basket drawing at 4 pm- $1/ticket 2 baskets to choose from donated by the Venango Toy Makers
  • Tentative guest appearance by the R.E.A.D. Dogs

Wiggly Worms Storytime For children birth to age 3 with a caregiver, this program features short picturebooks, songs, and nursery rhymes. This group will meet on Tuesday’s January 28, Feb 4 and 11 from 10:30-11:00 am. Please call or register at the Circulation Desk.

 Busy Bees Storytime For children ages 4-7 with a caregiver, this program includes stories, songs, crafts, preschool and kindergarten readiness. This group will meet on Tuesday’s January 28, Feb 4 and 11 from 11:15 am-12 pm. Please call or register at the Circulation Desk.

SNAP (Special Needs and Autism-Friendly Program) Storytime This storytime is designed for children ages 5 and up with autism spectrum disorders, sensory integration issues, and other developmental disabilities. If your child has difficulty sitting through one of our other storytime, this program of stories, songs, and activities might be just what you are looking for! SNAP Storytime will meet monthly on the 2nd Monday of every month from 4:00-4:30 pm– mark your calendars for February 10 and March 9.

Playgroupis for ages birth to age 8. This is a great chance for both children and parents to make new friend! Come meet, play, and connect! We will meet in the Junior Room on Tuesdays Feb 18 & 25 from 10:30-12:30.

Nailed ItA new after school club for grades 3-6, where participates will discover the fun of actively building something out of solid wood with their own two hands! The club will meet the 3rd Monday each month from 3:30-4:45 mark your calendars for Feb 17 and Mar 16. There is no special knowledge or skills required. Lego ClubCome enjoy LEGOS and friends at the library. Lego play promotes logical problem solving and scientific reasoning. Adult caretakers are asked to stay in the room during this hour-long drop in program. No registration is required. Lego Club will meet the 4th Monday of each month from 3:30-4:30 mark your calendars for Monday’s January 27, February 24, and March 23.

Crafting with Ms. TerrieClasses will resume in the spring of 2020, March 18, April 15, and May 20. A crafting class just for tweens (ages 7-12)! Join Ms. Terrie on the 3rd Monday of month from 5:30-7 pm to learn different crafting skills. Samples of the upcoming projects can be found on the tween page and in the display case at the library. Please call or register at the Circulation Desk, limited to 15 children per session. Please note we will be using paper/fabric scissors, acrylic paint, hot glue guns, hammer/nails, and needle/thread to complete the projects.

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten begins this month. This is a free and self-paced program, where you read a book (any book) to your newborn, infant, toddler, and preschooler. The goal is to read 1,000 books before each child begins kindergarten. (Yes, you can repeat books.) If you read just one book a night to your child, you will have read 365 books in a year. The only deadline is the start of kindergarten. The library will help you celebrate milestones. It’s easy to participate. Read with your child. Keep track of the titles of the books that you read together. Make it fun! Contact the library to sign up and get more information.
