Update 3/31/2014: All Board openings have been filled. Thank you for your interest and support!
We are seeking individuals to serve on the library’s Board of Directors, with terms beginning in April 2014.
The Library Board is the governing body of the Franklin Library Association. The board sets library policies, approves the budget, and secures funding for library operations. Library Board members also serve as advocates for the library.
The Franklin Public Library’s Board of Directors is made up of 12 members. One member is appointed by the City of Franklin, one member is appointed by the Franklin Area School District, and 10 members are elected by the Franklin Library Association at their annual meeting in April. Anyone can apply to be an elected board member. Elected members serve a 3-year term, and may serve a second consecutive term.
We have four openings with full 3-year terms (April 2014 through April 2017). We also have one opening with a short 2-year term (April 2014 through April 2016), due to a previous board member’s resignation. Board meetings are on the first Tuesday of every month at 4:00 PM in the library. If you are interested in serving on the board, contact Library Director Debbie Oaks for more information.
